power steering problem

Postby dbuckley » Sun Apr 27, 2008 2:55 pm

Hi Lads,
I'd like to get people's opinion on this problem I’m having with the power steering. The power steering doesn't work when the car is idling, in fact it only starts to work when the revs go above 3500.
I checked the fluid level and it's ok. I have also gone through the bleeding procedure and there doesn't appear to be any air in the system.
The tension on the belt is also good. There is also a pressure on the pump that i haven't tested but i have checked the circuit back and it does make the stepper motor increase the revs. I'm thinking that the pump is fecked. Has anybody else had a similar problem? I need to get this sorted as the car belongs to my missus and she won't drive like that which means she's driving my car :(
Cheers

Not sure if it's the pump, but it does sound like it. If so you can pick one up at a breakers for about 120-150e and it's a ten minute job to fit it!

Anybody know if one off of a Galant would fit it, or any other car?
