changing my tip gearstick

a friend of mine wants to change his tip gearstick and is baffled at how to take the bugger off is it just a matter of pulling it off os turning or does it have to be in a certain position any help would be great thanks :shock: ............p.s any one know of any fto specialists in doncaster sheffield area ??????

The button on the top comes off, trying sticking a blade or something not very thick in either side and prising it off, once thats off theres a white washer type screw thing, screw that off, then you need a socket and rachet to get the nut off under that. Once thats off the gearstick will just come off. Careful putting the nut back on that you dont cross thread it.
Another thing, keep checking that the gear lever will go into all the modes when you're putting it back together, if the screw is down too far the button cant be pressed down and you wont be able to select park or reverse. Its just a matter of finding the right spot. (The g-spot, for gear-spot....)

so can the tip gear nob be replaced with an after market one

Once it fits a tip gearstick then yes, cant be fitted with a gearknob for a manual if thats what you mean.

To be honest I reckon you could do a nice job with a bit of spray, carbon, or something else, (don't ask what else I can't really think of much other things to do to stuff besides spraying and cf...)
