Meant to throw these up a while ago...

Fully refurbed and sprayed white, vowed to do this whenever I got a black fto... pretty cool huh, I think they show up the black better.

Next plan is to colour in the badge in the centre caps red...

Ha, strangely enough just applied the first coat of white to mine

Question is, will they suit silver?....they look grand on GT4

Nice work! - Did you do the refurb yourself?

I'm wanting to spray my enkeis black...but not sure how to prep them..

Good stuff, will be starting this job myself this weekend (weather permitting). Muad, serach the web, these loadsa guides out there on how to do the job. Basically, its

Clean wheels, sand down, clean wheels, 2-3 coats of primer, sand primer, clean wheels, 2-3 coats of paint, 2-3 coats of laquer, light sand and polish.

I'd be inclined not to paint the centre sections....

White wheels look good, keeping them cleamn must be a B***h

Thanks guys, I suppose those working on it have an example to look at now. I didn't refurb myself no. I suggest stripping the paint back too though.

Guy who did mine had an awful job because the eejit before me put black tar tyre shine on it and it leaked into the paint and they had to be completely stripped back. I was of the opinion they should be stripped back anyway, so while he cursed and screamed, I was like, meh.

Are ye all spraying yours white?

I don't mean the entire centre cap guys, just the mitsi badge in the middle. There seems to be a definite negative vibe from most at the moment though!

I think they look pretty sweet alright. And I'd like to see the badge in the middle painted red. Fcek it, it's only a small bit and would be easy to paint white again. :lol:
As per Rory though, between brake dust and irish roads, must be a total b'atch to keep clean?

I know someone who knows someone :) So may not be the most accurate price, but you are looking at in and around E300.

Hard enough to keep clean alright, put whatever type of paint or sealant he put on it makes it much easier to wipe off than the originals.

Oh yeah, there's some product you can put on the wheels when they're clean to make it easier to wash off when they do get dirty. A must for you. I think Autoglym do one.

In these recessionary times, I'd be inclined to give it a go yourself, its not difficult (unless you have to fill kerbing damage which isn't that difficult either).

I'll report back on my progress as soon as I get started.

Or will you take them all off (leaving betsy on axle stands), along with the tyres to ensure that you can access all areas.

Wheels will come off 2 at a time, I have a spare set of wheels to swap on and off as required.

I'll be masking off the tyre section with cardboard\newspaper and masking tape. I'm not going to spray the inside of the rim as its barely visible. I will give the inside a good clean though.

I'd imagine there's a fair bit of work involved but €300 seems a lot.

Mine's chocked, on axles and a trolley jack atm, no sign of movement or anything.

2 at a time, do one set then the other. I won't get as nice a finish as a pro but for the sake of a 6 cans of primer/paint/lacquer it's shaping up nicely.

If ye're going white, I was recommended (too late I might add) a high gloss radiator white paint as it will take the heat from the brakes better than standard paint.

I'm also very lazy/impatient so If they come out anyway decent there's no reason why anyone else wouldnt be able to do it.

2 x wheels off last night, degreased, washed, scrubbed and sanded. Masking and priming undertaken this morning, next step is to key the primer, apply a few coats of Ford Strato Silver, key the paint and finish off with a few coats of clear laquer. As per Unkle B, you'll need 2 cans of each for the full job. Progress so far:

How long did it take you to do the cleaning / degreasing ?
