fog light help

Postby miss-enzo » Sun May 04, 2008 5:37 pm

right so my fogs/spots have stopped workin, well not so much stoped workin as much as wont turn off!

Lee drove my car down to the rally last nigth (while i was working) and rang me to say that the switvh wouldnt turn the spots off, instead they were stayin on and when he pressed the button the parking lights were coming on.

once he was back home the lights would turn off themselves, u could turn em back on but not off. once they were turned on the button was controlling hte parkers, but turning the fogs on the parkers werent affected

what the hell is going on???????

the only thing he can thing of is that there was some flodding/big puddles to drive through on the way down but sure ive driven through big puddles loads (it is irealnd after all)

can someone please explain whats goin on here??

Your gof switch has overheated and has fused/melted the plastic and now stays on - common FTO fault.

Take out the switch to see for yourself if this is the case - it will appear black and melted.

You will need a new switch and you should also install a relay to stop this happening again. I found instructions on FTOOC.ORG when this happened to mine.

Yeah the switch is a bad design. It acts as a relay as well as a switch. Not a great idea for lighting and will eventually get crap on all contacts. Rory might have one
