Alloys clean up.

Postby baldtyres » Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:47 am

Between the poxy Irish weather, neglect and possibly stupid mutts p*ssing on my wheels, my alloys have badly lost their former glory. Does anyone know of anybody who cleans up alloy wheels. I mean have them new looking again not some spray and wire brush. If you know of any specialists around the Waterford area i'd appreciate the tip. Also who does leather reupholstery. How much do these things cost? I'd like to regenerate my car back to showroom state!
Spent years and cash looking after the engine / suspension etc. but forgot about how these cars have a unique look which made me buy it in the first place!

Postby karlf » Mon Oct 09, 2006 5:29 pm

was talking to CJ bout this recently he suggested these guys
http://www.zenithautomotive.com/ so they must be good. Also try the guy on the services page he must be there coz people here have used him and would recomend him.
Darren O'Connor 086-0592037 Newbridge, Co. Kildare Comes highly recommended for all car upholstrey and leather work
You could try asking if anyone else wants to re-upholster their car too and get a group discount see these threads

Not sure bout the wheels, you could try someone who repairs alloys. They might be able to do something for you. Dont know of any down in waterford but I'm sure there's one down there somewhere

Seat covers

Postby baldtyres » Mon Oct 09, 2006 9:44 pm

Thanks Karlf,
You've given me a few options to look into. The leatherette off the peg seat covers look better than I would have thought. Thought I'd have to get them custom made. They look good in all the colour combos. Hope they don't make them in your font colour choice though! :P
I seems that a few of you have the 'leatherette' covers for a few months or longer now. Do they wear well? I'd expect them to last a few years. Anybody have a rough estimate of the price for a single order. I notice that you bought them in bulk last time. Mabey I should have been paying attention then.

leatherette

Postby karlf » Mon Oct 09, 2006 10:48 pm

Dont have them myself. Was talking to a guy in micheal tynan motors, he said they get their seat covers made by a guy in churchtown. Dont have the number myself but i'm sure if you ring them and enquire they'd give it to you. They said they got covers made for a pajero for €160, cant recall what material they were made of but that seems reasonable enough.
Tel: 01 403 6700 Fax: 01 403 6799 mailto:info@tynanmotors.ie
The font is just to brighten up the forums black is so boring. Colour can have a subconscious affect on a persons feelings, Blue=cold Red=Warm Dont know what violet means but purple is sexually frustrated(take from that what you will). I change it all the time hopefully more will see it and follow suit.
Cant find it now but I read on one of the threads that someone who got the leatherette seat covers said they'd theirs over a year and still looked new. Suppose it depends on the person though aswell. Some people are prepared to look after things and have them a long time. Others wouldn't be so careful and theirs will get damaged that bit more.

seatcovers & colours

Postby baldtyres » Mon Oct 09, 2006 11:59 pm

good man karl, Ill follow up that tynanmotors tip.
I already knew about the Blue=cold Red=Warm coz my shower temperature dial works like that
That longhaired nancyboy who used go into peoples houses on BBC and butcher their rooms with tinfoil & purple paint obviously didn't understand its meaning, he had 5 or 6 rugrats.
That midget Prince pulled some mighty pieces of skirt too!

Take the credit, you're the one passing on the info even if the groundwork has been done. Going to spend a few weeks gathering info / prices / etc. as I want to hold onto the motor even if I buy something more practical. Can't part with the FTO so I'll give it some new clobber!
Only nine more years and I get classic insurance, even though I'll have middle aged crisis written all over me if I'm seen in it by then.
