Alternator issue ?

Postby Sebastian » Tue Oct 26, 2010 7:30 pm

Right , from some time now , I have my battery light coming on from time to time , especially when the car is in neutral or very low revs.however the battery is grand and there's no signs of low power or anything
the volt meter shows normal well maybe a bit below the normal needle point .

Also when I change gears say from 4th to 3rd (or 3rd to 2nd)and i accelerate hard i hear a squeeky sound same like you would start in the mornings and the alternator belt was loose .
I checked the belts and they all seem more than fine , I disconected the ,, - ,, from the battery and no signs of engine cutting out.
Now this alternator was reconditioned i'd say 3 years ago . Is this a sign I need a new one ? has anyone had similar problems?

any help is much appreciated as it's getting on my nervs :?

what voltage should you get from a good alternator

since mine after the repairs gives only 13 V
before the voltage regulator change, the output was 14V
