Manual GPX

Postby Dave » Mon Feb 16, 2004 12:06 pm

How do folks,
well since the rolling road day i sort of knew i had to do something about what was under the bonnet, so i approached IVI engines and enquired about doing a transplant, and trying to find an evo engine is like "hens teeth" as they put it, plus the cost would be huge, so i have now decided i'm going to try and pick up a gpx manual, i know they are rare so this is why i might approach a guy we insure to bring one in from england for me! am i right in thinking that this may not cost as much as it would importing it myself? i know most guys would just then stick on a massive premium but this guy would normally look after us.
it's either that or getting highgrade to import one for me! (the old man is good mates with the guy that owns highgrade  )

how mucg would reckon it'd cost for a 97-98 manual gpx?

www.IBCjapan.co.jp you could import one yourself. Huge choice Dave and delivery is about 8 weeks. Hi Grade, told me (but I don't have the contact) that they don't import to spec and they get a couple of deliveries a year.....and they have just had their one in Jan.

From the UK is a good idea but prices are dear when you convert from STG.....www.autotrader.co.uk is a good starting point. Only thing about this is that you don't have to pay customs, or VAT....only the VRT which will be about 4200 on a 98 GPX manual.

I have done a lot of research so call me if you like some evening ...you have my number

Adrian, hows about putting an importing guide together some time?
I think others could benefit from your experiences.

If you go for a good manual non-mivec (GR or GX) then you're choice gets massively wider when importing....also if you choose White as a colour you would accept your choice rockets too.
I'll get a guide together when I get time, but for now give me a buzz some evening....

well the only condition i have is that it's a GPX manual, i'm not going to fork out for a GR and then think ah well maybe i should have gotten a GPX, and then tranfer as much of the stuff i have on mine over and sell the GS ( well that's the plan)

i might settle for an irish gpx manual, i know they are rare but it'll save me the hassles of trying to import myself, still have to wait and see what highgrade have got, they have a 97 coming in this week and i'd save 2 or 3 grand by not going for anything newer than a 95/96. and there are a couple manuals for sale in the buy and sell so going to make a few calls, i'll keep ye posted.
