Federal tyres?

Postby kevinod » Fri Mar 03, 2006 12:59 am

Guys,

got a quote for 4 federals, 235/17/40s for my Evo 8 Enkei alloys, €105 a corner. how does that sound?

I know Eagle F1s are probably one of the best tyres out there at the moment, but at 160-170 a corner are the worth that much extra?

Same guys were talking about Semperits for €135, how do they rate?

Kev.

Are they the Federal "Super Steels"? - If so they're not a bad tyre - similar thread to the F1's - I had a set on a Cougar for a few months.

I wasn't talking to him myself so unfortunately didn't get the model name. I'll get back onto him again early next week I think. The recommendation was largely due to a guy down the road from the tyre place that deals in scoobies and skylines who will only put federal tyres under them.

I found the Federal Super Steels to give very good performance per €. Other tyres in this class wouldn't be anything like as good (Nankang etc)but I'm sure the above chap put federals on the scoobies and skylines because they were a good but more particularly good value tyre as opposed to being very good (& expensive) tyres such as Bridgestone S03's / Eagle F1's etc. I've yet to see an Irish Import Car Dealer put a top make of tyres on the cars they sell.
