Aerial - anyone found a good solution?

Postby kevinod » Fri Sep 09, 2005 12:01 pm

Just wondering if anyone came across a good solution to the poor radio reception when you use the rear window as the aerial, i.e. don't have an aerial on the back left wing.

I think CJ installed one on the wing, which might be a good option, but I'm investigating other options...

Came across an internal glass mount amplified aerial by Autofun (Blaupunkt brand maybe?) here. I'm thinking I'll give it a go, anyone else tried something like that?

As you can tell I'm a highly motivated and productive employee this morning...

I have the FTO external aerial on my rear quarter panel and tbh it just spoils the lines. What I'd like is one of those shark fin aerials ala the BMW M5 and EVO FQ's.

They can be bought rather cheaply from ebay or better quality from many UK modifying sites.

Tried to order it, but turns out they only trade in the UK. :? It is a Blaupunkt brand as it turns out.

Ah well... asked this afternoon to be in the states from Monday to Thursday next week. By 8 this evening it was for 2 weeks! Anyway, should be able to find somewhere that does a similar aerial while I'm there...

I havn't actually installed the thing yet, still contimplating how it might affect the look.

I went down this option first and I found that the reception was just as bad as the original :?
