would anyone have a lend of..

Postby karlf » Mon Feb 02, 2009 3:43 pm

I'm going looking(possibly) at a car in England depending on if its available. I would like to bring along someone with me to check it out but thought it might be an idea to bring along a diagnostic tool/meter. Would anyone have one? And be able to show me how to use it. I'd be afraid I'd get it home and find out its in bits. I'm not sure I'd be able to get a mechanic over there to check it out on short notice

Not sure what you'd do with it Karl? The best advice I can offer you is to bring grease monkey / petrolhead along for the trip, especially if you're uncertain on what to look out for.

Was on the uk site a member babylon suggested getting the aa to check it out. Might do that. I thought that it would tell me of any faults in it. I'm not even sure what it does I just assumed

Good option, you'll get a full mechanical report back - its worth the money.

Yep - that's what I did for the Audi for peace of mind - I used the RAC. The guy went over it with a fine tooth comb and then discussed for 30 mins on the phone, telling me every little thing that was wrong with the car - down to things like 'the catch on the rear ashtray is broken'.

Downside is that it costs about €200 yo-yos :(
