radio not working ,FINALLY WORKING!!

i took out the old radio from the fto and put in my new radio but when i hooked it up there was no power, so i took that one back out and put the old one back in to see if it was just the radio but no life in that one either, blown fuse maybe? or did i pull something while removing the centre console. doing my head in now with no radio

blown fuse I'd say, or maybe a loose connection. some adaptor leads have bullet connectors for the permanent live and the ignition live, check these aren't loose.

Definitely a fuse i would say this happened me as well i was told to remove the leads from the battery to prevent this from happening when at any auto electrics,you live and learn i guess

i switched the 15 amp fuse for the radio with another one that was in the fusebox and still no joy,what is the bullet connector colm?

do you have a Mitsubishi to ISO adaptor lead? there should be 2 fuses, one on the back of the radio and one in the car's fusebox (think it's in the drivers footwell)

yeah i have the adaptor lead i checked the fuse in the engine bay,thats where the radio fuse is, according to layout

Are you using a prefab iso adapter or one where you have to join the powerleads yourself? if so make sure you have them the right way around..one is comes on with the ignition and the otherone is permanent afaik (to preserve things like preset radio stations and such).. Oh and I once saw and install that had the two powerleads going into the one connection..not a great idea..

there was already an aftermarket radio in it so i just used the iso lead that was already there, plus the old radio i took out wont work in it either now,so i dont think its the radio

Check terminals that match up with pins 4 and 5 for current with a bulb. . you can use the cig lighter surround as an earth.

haha ah rite, how do you check the terminals with a bulb

get a 12v bulb, connect one terminal to an bare earth (outer part of the cig lighter is an easy one (make sure it's plugged in!) connect the other end to the pin on the plug you wanna test. if the bulb lights then it's getting power.

if i connect the adaptor leads can i not just wriggle the wires to see if they are loose and see if power comes through the rado or is that too dangeruos

nah, it's not dangerous. have you checked the fuses to the right of the accellerator?

i didnt think there was any fuses in there for the radio

The one for the cig lighter is down there, so I'd imagine the radio is too. can't hurt to check.

after two months i have it working. apparently the aerial and earth wire on the iso lead was the cause. i was on the IMOC and one of the lads told me two check these because most mitsubishi's use the aerial as a negative. , anyone ever hear of that?. so i was out in the car again today fiddling around with it . soon as i earthed the wire off the iso life suddenly came into the radio, when i disconnected the wire i just put the aerial in and it suddenly worked too. i was thrilled ,shouting YES , finally some tunes to liosten too. was getting fed up listening to every rattle in the car. BRING ON THE NOISE,THUMP THUMP

the negative should be a black wire running to an earth point on the dash. using the aeriel as the earth isn't going to work very well.

thats what i did, i ran the earth wire off the iso lead to the chassis of the car , i wasnt gonna rely only on the aerial. you ever hear of that colm?

The aeriel itself isn't supposed to be earthed, but the braided coating on the lead could be.
