I used engine flush in an FTO a few years back and ended up with a cam seal leak - big labour costs involved to fix. Personally, I would avoid the stuff in lieu of the following:

Drop the old oil
Fill up with 4L of cheap oil, grade and viscosity not critical. Let the engine run for a few minutes.
Drop the cheap oil
Fill up with the good stuff

To be honest, theres not much value in using engine flush, take the marketing spiel with a pinch of salt.

Class. Reminds me of the fella who was trying to convince people on some forum to put sand into the petrol tank to clean the fuel lines.

also there was a story about some bloke wo had a civic and put sand in through the air intake hoping to come straight through the exhaust to clean the inside of the engine, basically a sandblast job. this story is floating around some car club sites

That wasn't the guy who came up with the idea for the turbo that recycles its own air was it? He even made a prototype, reckoned that he could make a turbo that wouldn't have to take air from outside the car, it could use the air the turbo gives off, so in other words he had a stainless steel tube. Knob.

Pretty sure that was the same guy.. yes..

He'd actually sucked up bags of sand through the air-feed.. i think.. god if I could only remember what forum I read that on..

off to google..
