Obviously the road version will look like a much more feeble version of that admittedly gorgeous concept car.

However good to hear they are going upmarket with this car and will have much higher power, RWD and have an LSD. Although its going to have its work cut-out to get me out of a 350Z.

Yeah it looks alright..

But I honestly don't think the road car will look much like it.
And unless they actually do something about the bhp/liter ratio they have on offer today it wont really be interesting..

They do talk alot - but .. I don't see it happening - not this time around..

I do hope I'm wrong though..

they're getting 109bhp out of their 1.4 engine, which is the highest output for any 1.4 non turbo on sale in Ireland. most Hyundai petrol engines have variable valve timing, so they're getting there. Think that Genesis will be 300 US bhp.

Hmm - Rover were getting that out of their K series 1.4's a decade ago.

I think that Maud is probably referring to their 2.7 V6 pumping out a "massive" 167bhp that is currently running in their coupe. All the tax - none of the performance benefits. It suits the US market of large lazy engines fine - Europe is another story.

That's fair enough, I've driven the 2.7 Coupe, and it's not noticably quicker than the 2.0 - it sounds much better. That engine was mainly used in the Santa Fe is pretty lazy.

I used the 1.4 in the i30 as an example that they can do good engines when they want to. this one has the bonus of not eating head gaskets.
Their new CRDI diesels are quite good too.
This new car is a big step forward for Hyundai, while most manufacturers are toning down their brands, they're radically improving their range.
I'd watch out for Kia and Hyundai in the next decade, as they have the ability to really mess things up for European and Japanese manufacturers.
