Auto Glym is great

Postby Bernard » Tue Sep 04, 2007 6:05 pm

I spent a good bit of yesterday cleaning the car.
I have to say it was very rewarding, despite the back ache.

Even my daughter was impressed

We use pretty much the entire range at work. very good quality, obviously there is better out there if you want to pay huge money.

For anyone whos putting this much effort in polishing their car, make sure you spend the extra 30 mins 'sealing' the polish with a wax (pref. carnuba based) or a synthetic sealant (i.e Autoglym Extra Gloss protection). The finish will last a good bit longer in comparison to polish alone.

Nice job, you better raise her pocket money, seeing as she did such good work :)

The Auto Glym wheel cleaner is absolutely incredible stuff (white wheels are otherwise impossible to keep clean!), but it's also a bit scary. If you breathe anywhere near it it will burn your nostrils and don't let it get near an open cut!

It's so powerful I'm worried it might be slowly wearing the white off the wheels.

Still, Auto Glym Shampoo and Polish are my staple!

Heres a tip - after cleaning them down, polish the surface of the wheel, brake dust won't adhere as easily and the wheel can be cleaned easier next time around.

Smashing job - looks superb.

Did a similar job on mine recently and just got upset about the amount of small chips and dents I found :(

BTW did you remove the fog lamps?

Looks very nice indeed.
One of the disadvantages of silver cars like mine is that you can never get them as shiny as that no mater how hard you try.
On the other hand you don't notice if theyre too dirty either.

No, in fact I'm waiting for them to arrive.
The previous owner removed them but is meant to be posting them to me.
I think it'd look much better with them fitted.

Nah - Leave them off and fit a cold air induction into the left hand side fog lamp space. The previous owner removed them with good reason. I think it looks more purposeful without.

That's what was in there, fitted by the first UK owner, removed by the second.
