Retracting mirror - glued

Postby Sebastian » Thu Mar 01, 2007 12:00 am

heya lads !

well the one thing that i loved on the car beside the frameless window was the folding /retracting mirrors!
So far so good!
when i bought it the passangers mirror didn' retract at all(at a push of a button) but working perfectly when i try to adjust the position (up down left right)
i said to me .oh i will fix it ..

2day i discovered that the mirror is glued (siliconed i guess) ..

SO .. i dont know now where 2 start ..
i did tried SEARCH button (up in the menu) :) but ..
i'm kind of worried to take the mirror out myself JUST TO CHECK IT it could be the small motor .. or what

any help/advice would be appreciated
thank you

That doesn't look particularly healthy... must have been vandalised and knocked off at some stage I reckon, then someone just stuck it back on? I don't fancy your chances of getting that mirror folding again tbh.

Best bet might be to get a passenger mirror off a passion red FTO from a breakers - try Steelroe & Ricerocket maybe. Danger is that the colour mightn't be an exact match...

I know they're not your color - but if you're getting the front touched up anyways you could probably get the mirror done for cheap :-)

I had both my wing mirrors take off on 2 seperate occasions by so wee crap on bikes.

Like your left 1 mine went too so i re-wired and bonded it back on with a bit of gripfill

Done the trick as i didn't have the money at the time to get it fixed. About 2 days later they took the other one off so i had to bite my tongue and go looking for new mirrors.

Got a set eventually on ebay and they cost me £46.00 for the pair. So i whipped apart the old mirrors and took the electronic motors out of the new ones. Replaced the new motors with my own covers and sure she looks great again.....

where is the button for these retractable mirrors? I don't think my GPvR has retractable mirrors? 2 blank (dummy) buttons beside the mirror adjustment 4 way pad.

The GPvR model as far as I know doesn't come with retractable mirrors, part of the weight saving thing.

Both Passenger and drivers side mirrors are on eBay at the moment - I don't agree with the pricing - but hey... Cheaper than getting them from mitsi I'd bet.
