A gearbox from a manual GR is the way to go. You'd be better off finding a donor car because as well as the gearbox, you'll need the pedal box, and clutch cable, gear linkages, clutch and other little bits that will cost you a fortune if you are to buy them seperately.
I considered this a few months ago, but figure it'd be easier to buy a different car.

A couple of people on ftooc seem to have done conversions, and as far as I know, there iare companies in the UK who do manual conversions (like Japco)

I'm pretty sure RiceRocket on here can supply the conversion kit too (I should be on RR commission! ). Give him a shout and he might be able to do something for you.

And of course there's always steelroe, he could well have a manual gearbox or two (plus the rest of the parts you'd need) on one of his breaker cars?

Theres got to be at least 2 days labour in this, you would need to find a mechanic willing to take on the project - could be tough! I'd factor in the guts of a grand for labour.

Giles has been doing these conversions for years and knows his stuff. Does his price include the supply of a manual box?

If I remember right when I was converting Chris's FTO, neither Japco or RiceRocket would supply the kit, they wanted to do the work themselves, open to correction here Chris

Yeah your right, they wouldnt supply me the kit for 'insurance' reasons as they weren't fitting it.
There's surely a reason nobody pointed this out, but why not just get Rory (steelroe) to do it? Im thrilled with mine as a manual and it was done at what i thought was a very good price considering the time and effort gone into it.
