Same here G will not make work for a few day's i think missed yesterday already only for they salted the road last night would have not got out today and it's as bad as ever tonight again with about 6 inches on it stay in bed in the morning till the kids drag me out to build a snowman or is it person now a day's

I'm working from home till the snow is gone.. I'm lucky enough that I'm able to log in to both phone system and network from here.. but having spent all day indoors, eating freezer food - and not leaving the house at all is wearing a little bit thin..

Probably only cause it's not really an option..

It took me 2.5 hours to travel 6km home from work yesterday, I've never driven in such manic conditions before (pretty much every road in west Dublin was covered in a sheet of glass-like ice). My first mistake was to take a route with a downhill slope - cars couldn't get up but cars could go down no bother! Ended up sticking the car into a small ditch, a load of youngflas had to push me out if it. The second mistake was driving the RX-8 into work, little or no traction was to be had. I drove the FTO in today, you can't beat a bit of weight over the driven wheels!

For those of you with RWD, deflate the rear wheels by 50% or more if you must drive at all...

I pre-empted the madness as soon as the heavy snow started and I left work early yesterday - still took me 2 hours to get from IFSC to carrickmines. There's some real idiots driving out there so it's a scary time to be on the roads. I watched the traffic madness on the news before heading to the ski club in Kilternan - it was really sweet up there with over 5 inches snow in the carpark alone. I got some video which I'll post tonight

I read a thing on one of the newspapers online couple of days ago before the snow got really heavy I presume, some fella saying that now the real SUV drivers are coming to the light, that he has seen people with jeeps and other 4x4's stuck in a couple of inches of snow, or refusing to budge out of their house cause of the weather, yet if they REALLY had any clue about a 4x4 and what its capable of they would have no problem driving it. Its the 'show ponies' who bought them cause 'the neighbor has one' and has never put it into 4x4 mode or even knows what it is that are really proving their worth now.

I think the big problem here really is that its not so much the snow thats catching the SUV/4x4's out (cause theres not that much of it) - its the compacted ice which tends to be a great leveler - its the stopping distances thats catching people out and a 4x4/SUV won't help much there. A good set of snow/winter tyres and a fwd car should have no difficulty in this weather - My Range Rover Sport is serious overkill for an icy/2inches of snow road - I'll never get to use 20% of its potential while I'm still on the road. However - the Zed has been driven about 50miles in the last 2 months cause of the weather conditions - first too much water and now too much frost/snow. I'm itching for a blast.

Is there no end to this, snowed again here last night and has started again now walked down to local shop yesterday to get bread and milk no bread left but had some milk thank god. brother gone to iceland for a week so going to insure his L200 for a few day which will get us out i hope, Water is now frozen for 3 days and the old couple next door has no water as well getting bottle down the road for us and them and this is a 2 time's a day trip you do not know how much you use in a day till it's gone, The man next door went out in his van 2 day's ago and couldn't make it home another guy down from us had to pull him home with the tractor he is a man nearly 80 and the wife as well think he would have learned no went out again later that day and had to be pulled home again for luck got to town on tuesday and had done a big shop, Kid's loved it the 1st day now it's like when can we go here or there fed up of the house.
