Well it had breathing mods - ITG + DeCat Blueflame Quad.
Timed at 0-60 in 6.48 secs and a 14.79 sec 1/4 mile at 95mph terminal speed.

The FTO doesn't exactly respond well to NA mods - you're not going to see any real significant gains. The best gain I had was from loosing weight. I'd say the FTO did these times at about a 1130kg kerbweight as I had removed about 40-50kgs of useless muck from the engine bay (mostly air-con) plus I had also changed seats for much lighter items and had taken out rear seats (didn't ever use them) and of course the spare and tools.

Also removed rear spoiler to help with drag (had a big Hiro spoiler on there on the previous years run which didn't help my 1/4 mile time of 15.1 - see pic below).

BTW - Russman on here has run under 15 sec times with a completly standard GPvR - he even had a load of junk in the back doing these times so a healthy FTO Mivec Manual is no slouch regardless.

Supposedly the tip box takes 30bhp, so you're already 30bhp down before you get onto the start line, so it'll def be some bit slower

30bhp?

so a manual GR will be quicker than a tip GPX?

To 60 - most likely. Top end (i.e. above 120kph), the Tip should have the edge.

In theory a Manual GR would probably be quicker due to better gear ratios, less weight and less transmission losses. I'd still rather a Tip Mivec for the sound of the Mivec engine alone.

1/4 mile in Limerick Racecourse on Sep 9th - Put the theory to the test.

Nope - Just replaced the clutch with one of the Camskill non-OE items.
A twin plate clutch and a lightened flywheel would surely have helped my times alright but it would also likely have bitten my leg off in traffic.

The one thing I would have really liked would have been the LSD - standard on the GPvR (as per Russmans and JayVR FTOs in last years 1/4 mile) - that would help get the power down - you really have to battle the wheelspin in 1st and 2nd gear - an LSD would really help here.

Cool. thought someone mentioned it. That's good to know that it was a standard clutch. I didn't think Clare had any traffic

It doesn't apart from tractors and the odd stray cow but I spent most of my working days in Shannon, Limerick, Ennis, Galway, Cork and Dublin.

Fuel consumption is a good bit heavier in the Zed - but its a heavy car with a 3.5 V6 so I guess thats to be expected. It wouldn't be anything like as thirsty as a Scooby or Evo though. I average around 23mpg at MfFTO daily pace which wouldn't be exactly "driving miss daisy".

Eh, you'd be right there Ted, MfFTO daily pace is akin to a triped out Stig in a Zonda. I'd be well pleased if you're getting that kinda fuel consumption, I get mid to late teens in the Wrecks, bleedin' brutal.
