HID Installation

Postby southerncomfort » Sun Jan 27, 2008 1:46 am

Hi Guys,

Just bought a set of HID's from the link below and the kit arrived without instructions. Are these straight forward to Install or have I bought a dodgy set?

If anybody has an installation guide or instructions for installing these it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Look here: http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... c&start=25

Seems expensive if they're just regular Ebay type HID's

BEFORE YOU PLUG ANYTHING IN: make sure the earth and live wire on the FTO plug matches that on the HID kit, I thing the FTO's plug is wired backwards.

Fitting is very simple, the plug that goes into your existing healight plugs into the ballast (box) the ballast will have another lead coming from it to the HID bulb. there's no other wiring required.

Here's a picture of my wiring diagram, presume yours is the same

Ya, I found with mine that the wiring on the set as it came were reversed compared to what the FTO has, but once I sussed that, and reversed the wiring I was sorted.

In the picture shown above - can anyone confirm what the rubber grommit on the wiring (a few inches from the bulb) is for and whether this needs to form part of the install ?

Thanks

As I understand it, its a means of keeping the cabling together, thats all.

yup, it has no real use. I presume on some cars this would form a seal.
