6.5" (165mm) will do the trick. If you havn't considered it already, I'd recommend getting a set of componant speakers and mounting the tweeter in the dash pods, you get a much better audio range than just using standard drivers on their own.

Got me a pair of Sony Xplode 6.5" speakers from a Sony outlet store when I was in the states, 3 way, going to stick those in this evening hopefully if the weather holds up.

Didn't notice any fitting ad ons, do std 6.5" speakers usually fit in handy enough?

I have a set of mitsi fitted tweeters for sale if anyone is is interested. All models are wired already for these in the air pods either side of the windscreen. €20 to the first taker.

Tweeters were standard on the GPX, I'm not sure if they were an option or not.

So I guess the best way to check is to open that panel, presumably it'll pop up handy enough with the persuasion of a screwdriver?

Next question would be how to wire them in of course, what they connect to.

Two things.

Don't think they were a standard fit in any model. Were not on my GPX when I first got it. Fitted a set out of one of the crashed cars. Wirinfg was already in the air vent. Think you will find the wiring is already there (hopefully).

I pulled a set out of a GS last week and have another set lying around some where.

Don't think I have a set in there, at least if I turn the radio up there's no vibration on that spot. Also, I see a wire in one of the air vents, so hopefully I'm in business.

Sent ya a pm.

 yup, laziness getting the better of me... in the car, flashlamp in hand, screwdrivers all the way inside the house & garage so turning up the speakers and checking for vibration from the speaker seemed like a good plan.

I'll have a better look later this evening.

Ok, got off my .... and had a look. As suspected no tweeters there, but the wiring is there alright, the only thing short is the speakers themselves.

The cover came up very handy alright, nothing much holding it down, just the tube that slips into the air pipe.

For anyone interested, I took a pic:
