try Arachas insurance or other brokers. Also, keep in mind it's much easier to transfer existing insurance to FTO than getting a new quote altogether.
Try searching the forum as well, there were several topics about insurance with lots of useful tips.

They should transfer your policy if you tell them you bought the fto. I don't get this "imported" rubbish they spew, especially when you consider that all cars in Ireland are imported from elsewhere, including many other mitsubishis. I did an insurance list on this forum you can look up. If you're over 30, axa will quote, but they're not cheap. Liberty will be your most promising, but don't count your chickens.

Liberty wont quote anymore.
And I know a ton of people with imports with 123.ie so another BS story. I've heard them all.

they used to have a policey of no cars over 10 years old unless it was worthy more than €10k, must have changed this recently.

Also they don't allow mods?
Why would you insure a car that is worth less than the excess? Makes no sense...

Compulsory motor insurance I think is the answer. You know it's not easy getting an FTO insured, no matter what your stats, most insurers won't touch them. As it is, most FTO owners are spending more on their premium than their car is worth. Thankfully I'm not one of them, but there are loads who are in this position.
