Postby Danny Kierans » Mon May 23, 2005 1:22 pm

Having big prob with alt.Had it out now about 5 or 6 times now and not realy getting it sorted. The prob is volts jumping and the engine reving with the voltage. Can reach to 15v and drop to around 9v.

Have changed dieo+reg and didnt work a few days and back the way it was.Was on to camskill they know about the prob but dont have answer 4 it yet and they dont sell alternators any more over it.

Sounds like you need the services of a good autoelectrician Danny, f you've already changed the rectifier without result, its could be something outside of the charging system, did you change the brushes as well by the way?

Thats like whats happening with mine, in neutral she's at 12v soon as im back in gear and moving, its back to 14v. As the revs get higher the battery light starts to come on and get brighter.

Just left mine into an autoelectric this morning. I'm not confident/capable enough to try take out the alt. myself.

Any possibility it could be a bad battery, with the revs low the alt. wouldn't be charging as much and thats why the voltage is going up and down with the revs?
