FTO - Iso radio harness?

Postby kevinod » Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:53 pm

Anyone got an FTO to ISO radio adapter/harness, or know where I can get one?

Went to try to swap in a different radio (has Jap 76.3-90.0 Mitsi radio-cassette) but discovered the power/speaker/aerial connections are not like the newer standard ISO connections.

I know about the band expanders, but want to get a CD player/cd changer in there soon anyway so think I'll skip that step, borrowing one of brothers' old radios (Polo Blaupunkt or Golf VW brand) for the moment.

Looks like it alright, although the radio in her only has one connector on it + the aerial lead, that looks like it takes 2?

Came across http://www.hostilesmoker.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/FTOSite/howto06.html after more searching, but he doesn't show the back of the radio he took out, plus its a double din, mines a single.

He does mention though that its the single connector, not 2 connectors one you need? Not sure but I guess since this guy did it he's prob right, just the connector he shows only seems to have a plastic adapter...

Got hold of one since, thanks though!

Also won an auction for a radio + 12 cd changer on Ebay, but the seller isn't replying to any of my emails asking about postage, so think its a dodgy one... Pity, thought I was in business, although at least I haven't paid anything yet so haven't lost anything I guess.

Missed out on another couple of promising auctions shortly after waiting for this guy to get back to me though...

Complain about him to ebay and they'll look into it, if its a thing that he stated that he would only post to the UK then thats a different story. Keep an eye out for the item being listed again.

Ya, he has until Wednesday, just in case there's a good reason behind not answering me yet. Did state he'd ship worldwide, but only gave postage charges for the UK. Glad I asked and didn't just chance paying for the stereo + £20 postage!

Not a bad looking stereo, but not quite what I'm after (made the mistake of looking through Sony catalogue...). Think either radio/cassette -for iPod - with a CD changer or one of those Sonys that the display screen front flips down to reveal controls would be the job...

Actually think the back speakers in my FTO are more powerful then the front speakers, I know the front ones are working but you can't hear them over the back ones. Doesn't seem to be a back/front balance on the radio (Mitsi radio/cassette that came in it). Tonights investigations...
