Outside Tempoerature Sensor

Postby Kace » Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:54 am

Anyone know where exactly the outside temperature sensor is in the engine bay – the one that is linked to the aircon and gives you the reading when you hit the ‘outside’ button on the aircon. Mine is giving odd readings since the matrix was replaced.

If you download the Workshop Manual from the download section (I think), and go to section 55-53. Its page 365 in Part 2, and there's diagram there and I think even a method for testing it. :)

As a follow-on from this - has anyone ever had the experience where the outside temperature (as shown on the aircon console) drops down and goes negative during a trip - NOT during cold weather though.

Mine has started to sometimes drop from normal temp (let's say 20 degrees on a nice day) to temperatures as low as -15 degrees

It just creeps down there sometimes even though it's not anyway cold outside at all.

Outside Temp Sensor was my initial thinking - maybe it's not plugged in or something.

Anyone else ever seen anything like this ?

It is a sealed unit. Looks like either a intermittent open circuit fault or a loose connection.
