new tyres, where to go?

just ordered new set of tyres off camskill, can anyone recommend a decent tyre place to fit them that won't rob me! anyone use dtas in blanch with the 5% discount? and how much roughly to fit and balance 4 tyres?

Cheapest I could find was a fairly standard €15 per tyre. Someone managed to get it cheaper from Malahide tyres but they still quoted me the same.

Let us know if you find a cheaper option.

i mentioned before.

got 2 tyres fitted and balanced for 30 quid in about 10-15 minutes .
taking in consideration that a puncture repair is 15 eur seems like a good deal , not to mention i was quoted more at different garages

Is puncture repair really €15 these days

Do they still fix them by inserting a needle type thing into the tyre with a thick rubber thread on it and then pulling it back out ?

Or do they apply some sort of rubber patch / substance to the inside of the tyre ?

The last time I got one done (was a while ago admittedly) they did the needle thing and it took about 5 mins to do.

The "needle thing" is called plugging. they use a rubber plug to fill the puncture. Don't know of many places now that use patches and none that will tube a tyre.

Had a blowout this weekend so needed to do some tyre changing. Asked the guys who did my wheel how much they charged for puncture repair - it's €10.

Driving around all morning trying different places jfk tyres was closed, and most places only fit their own tyres. but best laugh i got was from atlas tyres on kylemore rd., he told me " those tyres are a nightmare to fit, you'll have to leave the car with me for at least 3 hours, and it'll cost €100".

Did you ever hear the like. I've heard similar stories recently, however normally the chancers only try and pawn off that type of tale on the ladies. I have a friend whose sister was charged more than €100 for fitting a regular road tyre on a Ford Focus recently.

Guys like this just need to be told in no uncertain terms that this is very uncompetitive pricing (you're being ripped off) and that you will take your business and that of your company and any friends / associates that you will inform elsewhere.

Feckers!, i've just been polishing the car and wheels and noticed a crack in one of the carbon fibre alloys that wasn't there before! what do i do now, cos i know they're just going to deny it! And i've no way of proving it was them
