Sky HD

Postby Dave » Wed Sep 10, 2008 11:23 am

Is it worth it, when I first got Sky in they couldn't give me Sky plus because I don't have a landline, this policy has since changed and is now possible, but I'm thinking that while I change over to Sky Plus, is it worth it to consider upgrading to HD... I have a HD TV and even the difference with the playstation 3 HD games in comparison to normal tv is unbelievable...

I was gonna go down this route but decided that the number of HD channels out there doesn't really justify the cost..once the number of channels and programming improves the picture might change (sorry, that was lame I know)..

mind you - I'll be repurchasing large parts of my dvd collection on BluRay once I take delivery of the PS3.. HD is king.

You can take a look at the SKY HD set-up I have at home on Saturday night and male up your own mind. I think that its esp nice to have for sports (rugby etc) - none of the graining that you get with fast moving pictures.

Yeah I seen you had it last year MyfFTO... I'll get a good look this year...

I do have a 1080p TV and it's a 50" so I tend to get the graining more so, I also tend to watch a lot of sports and films too so it may well be worth it!!

And yes Janus... that was lame!!

Would you ever move it outside?? Indoor aerials are SO last year ;-)

-> Dave - which Telly did you get been on the lookout for a 50"full HD for a while but there aren't many options out there and I don't want to get one that isn't full HD as it'll be in the sitting room.. Relegating the current one to kitchen duty I think - Either that or I'll be flogging it.

Janus, it's a Sony, I have it a good year and a half and I'm only beginning to utilise the HD properties with the PS3 and blue ray etc...

I went the cheap route and bought a dish from LIDL and a Freesat HD box from argos in the north.

Srtup was easy and you get BBD HD channel and ITV occasionally shows stuff in HD.

HD is amazing - I still sometimes just watch the HD channel for the sheer joy of the picture quality. The Olympics was brilliant in HD, as was Wimbledon but I'm not big into sports so I'm not too worried about the lack of HD.

One thing I found was that the HDMI output gives much better picture quality than NTL digital.

Yes I'm aware of that Marie, thinking of just cancelling my existing account and getting a new one set up in my girlfriend's name to take advantage of the new customer discounts...
