Green stuff brake pads any good?

Postby blackphoenix626 » Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:56 pm

well the time has come for me to replace my pads but im not sure which ones to get. I was on camskill.co.uk and was thinking of buying the green stuff pads as they suit my budget best, but was wondering if they are any good or should i buy different ones, any advise?

If you are still running the standard disks then greenstuff will be just fine for road use.
Harder pads tend to eat OE disks. They are a little dusty alright but then most performance pads are.

i ordered the standard ones yesterday, the ones beneath the green stuff pads on the camskill website, hope they are ok, my NCT is up this year anyway so it doesnt really matter if they dont last that long but at least ill get to test them out.

I had Greenstuff on my Mivec Mirage, i'd recommend them over standard, but as mentioned before, they are dusty, but worth it for the added stopping power

I've had a set of Greenstuff, but switched back to standard pads the next time around. I wouldn't recommend Greenstuffs just because it's a harsher braking experience, just didn't sound or feel great. Maybe stopped a little bit better but much happier to get back on the standards.

I have grooved and drilled discs btw.

I have Green stuff pads on mine. I wouldn't go for them again. They are very expensive for what they are. They're nothing special. I'll be getting Red Stuff one next time.

I think it was already mentioned further up..but..
Red have a fairly extreme wear effect on standard discs, so be sure that you keep that in mind.

I heard the reds wont even stop the car until they are warmed up, not ideal for road use i'd say.

Green on the front
Yellow on the back

works a treat

Horses for courses. I allways found the greenstuff to be a good fast road pad but I'm certain they'd not be up to track use.

Similar with many performance parts inc tyres - e.g. I run Toyo R888's on the Zed - they wouldn't be really suitable for road driving as you'd just never get proper heat into them but they are absolutely awesome (in comparision to road tyres) on track - completely transforms the grip levels on track but on a wet cold road they're tricky.

im talking about the redstuff for track.

i had EBC greenstuff for road and they were good fast road pads indeed, reinforced with EBC yellowstuff on the rears

When i put tyre's on the mivec i went for Toyo T1R's as the R888 are for track use.
The T1R's were a great job, heated up fast, were great in the wet and stuck to the roads. 8)

As I said, I have redstuffs and they've got me through about 5 trackdays no hassle.
