Would be very interested to know how you get ion with it Kev, especially with regard to knock readings.

I got a Palm pilot on Ebay a few months back when they were talking about it first, and got the serial hotsync cable off ebay a while back too.

Cable arrived in the post today, so I hooked it all up and I've got me a datalogger!

Everything worked first time with no problems. Its got live monitoring, both digital number and graphical lines, so it reports the information live, and at a click of a button save data logs which you can review later on.

It reports any error codes on your ECU, what they mean, and allows you to clear them. Luckily mine doesn't have any error codes so all seems to be in good shape!

There's also a sensor diagnostic section where you can run diagnostic tests on various components. I haven't tried any of these yet as I haven't read up on it and don't know what they do yet but it looks pretty handy to be able to do that for any troubleshooting I might need to do sometime.

I went for a short drive with logging turned on for rpms, knock count and timing and took a look afterwards. My knockcount is 0 all the way through which I reckon must be a good thing. Timing goes up and down but I have yet to work out what the figures mean.

I've only played around with it this evening, and don't really understand what a lot of the numbers are telling me (good, bad, or whatever) but I'm pretty impressed with how easy it is to use and the fact that it worked straight away with no probs whatsoever.

Nice ione kev, I'm actually very surprised that the knock level is 0 - anything under 60 is considered safe on the Rex! I'd be interested to see what levels other owners see. What sort of outlay are you talking for the whole system costs wise?

Reading up on that last night from their param/tuning guide, apparently knock is supposed to be between 3-7, if <3> palm cable to finish it off.

Say around 40 quid for the palm & serial cable, then the logger cable & software somewhere around €230, so about €270 all in roughly. Not bad at all I reckon!


I logged the drive into work this morning, so that'll be interesting to review later on this evening, rpms, timing and duty cycle. There's a .exe that came with it that I haven't tried yet, I'm guessing its for reviewing logs.

Why not disconnect a known sensor on in the engine bay and see if the fault is logged.

Any chance of a few screen shots with the unit connected up.

Didn't get to try disconnecting a particular sensor with all the rain over the weekend, must try during the week.
