Clock/Voltmeter Surround

Any1 paint there clock and voltmeter surround?, just after removing the cigarette box and using bodyfiller and a whole lot of sanding/cutting i fitted my garmin nuvi into the hole and made a bracket, thought it might be a bit low to operate but its grand and doubles as an mp3 player,looks sweet if i may say so myself ,
After i sanded down the clock surround as it was painted and chipped, it didn't come out well at all the rubber won't get smooth? i'm thing of maybe surrounding it with a carbon wrap? anyone do this with the clock surround

Can you remove the garmin easily?

Finers, it will be very difficult to recover the surface of the upper pod if you've removed some of the rubber surface coating. You could try coating it with paint stripper, the remainder of the coating will shrivel up and can be removed easier. This will provide a better surface for painting.

To be honest, you would be better off replacing the pod with a second hand unit.

Thanks CJ, ye i try'd thinners on the paint before i went at it with the sand paper but it wouldn't shift and i thought cellulose would be to strong for the rubber, Thought there might be paint or maybe rubber filler of some sort? or as i said earlier carbon cover? might get a bit messy do, would be a shame to have to buy a replacment

I created a bracket which can be unclipped but requires popping the surround out.
I left a USB cable plugged into the unit which can be accessed throught the disc changer box.

think it beats the cigarette holder, might need a bit more work especially on the clock surround but its a start.
