Changing steering wheel with airbag

Postby CJ » Sun Aug 24, 2008 2:00 pm

I'm considering changing the Nardi steering wheel in the VR-4 for an FTO Momo (direct fit). Both have an airbag and I want to retain this feature, as I understand it, all thats required is to disconnect the battery when swapping. Anyone done this, if so, any tips?

Is there a switch to disable the airbag in the steering wheel? Cause With the passenger side airbag there is somewhere I'm sure. Wouldnt want it goig off in your face while taking off the wheel!

I would presume its just a matter of disconnecting the battery (make sure power is fully drained) before messing with the removal of the airbag. Handle airbag carefully once removed (don't drop it) and don't reconnect battery untill new wheel and airbag is installed.

Simple once the battery is disconnected, If you disconnect the bag with the battery on a fault code will register and as far as I know you need a MUT-II to reset.
