Ok guys BIG issue here for me.

I first want to say I joined this site a year ago now... and I instantly fell in love with the friendlyness and helpfullness of everyone here,

I started off rather strapped for cash and the amount of help i got from members helping me find good condition options was great.

But iv found as of late there seems to be some sort of agression against me (maybe agresion is too strong but some form of issue anyway)

I Really do like this site and the people on it but its somethin that seems to be driving me away and i dont want to see it happen.

Is it just me and something i am just imagining, or has i done something?

Thanks in advance and all comments welcome.

Dan - Agression is very def the wrong word.
First off I'd like to say I admire your enthusiasm and you're clearly a petrolhead.

However IMHO you need to keep in check over the top claims and you do have a tendency to exagerate - I'm not gonna dig up old threads and post examples - enough said I think.

Finally don't consider leaving the site - you have as much right as anyone else to post your views etc - just be aware that you are posting these to a bunch of quite informed FTO and petrolheads themselves. I sometimes think that forums are a bad way to get points across because you can't relate directly to the posters or know their character and I've also been the subject of a few misunderstandings - hence why meets are so important.

Dan, I think you're misunderstood ;) I also think that you misunderstand occasionally.

The majority of the membership are pretty open-minded and can appreciate your efforts in terms of your turbo work. You have a tendancy to put your thoughts in writing in a way that elicits comment, often critical.

I don't believe thats theres a vendetta against you, far from it in fact. I'm wth MfFTO on the admiration front - keep up the good work.

Understand that this is an open forum and public opinion rules (within reason). Take a step back and try not to get too put out by peoples comments. I try to be subjective in terms of the opinions put forward by all users of this message board, I will admit that I think folks have been critical of you at times but I don't see any ill-will or maliciousness behind these motives.

Others have said this and I'm inclined to agree - you tend to bring a lot of the comments on yourself. This isn't a criticism aimed directly at you, consider it my opinion (you're getting the idea now I hope? ;))

The mods and I keep a close eye out for trolling on this forum, I'm thankful to say that its a rare occurrance.

My message to you is to be opened minded and don't take Internet comments too seriously....

I dont think theres aggression towards you dan no, again, like the 2 lads, I admire you for the project you're doing and the fact you're going ahead with it and have stuck by it, a lot of people would have totally quit by now or sold the car on cause it was too much bother or expensive.
I tihnk its going to be interesting to see how it does turn out, and people would want to see it both on the forum and in the flesh.
I think its easy to get misled on forums, sometimes people say stuff with a smirk on their face in a type of messing way, but you cant put that into words, someone might say something as a joke but it can easily be taken up the wrong way. Other people might say something and it might seem somewhat sharp or aggressive, but this could be cause they dont want to explain in detail exactly what they feel.
And also, like everyone and everything, people have bad days, get up out of the wrong side of the bad, spill coffee in the mornings, are not morning people, are cranky when they come home from work, you know the craic, me included, and its easy to set someone like that off. I do it all the time! This morning I got out of the car and gave out to the fella behind me cause he beeped me out of it though he was in the wrong, and I felt stuipid after it, but I did it on the spur of the moment without thinking. So take everything with a pinch of salt, try not to retaliate if you dont like what someone says, and keep up the project and the enthusiasm!

First off, I admit it’s a tough topic to bring up, so fair play for being upfront about it and tackling it straight on.

I think the posts so far have been honest, and I hope you take any criticism you might find in them to be constructive. It should be clear from them that there is no underlying current of members wanting you off the site.

I don't think you intentionally mislead people, but I think it can come across that way at times, with exaggerated claims and contradictory remarks. Saying one thing one week and going back on it a week later will leave people unsure of what is true and throw doubts over other statements and claims.

There have also been a few unsubstantiated comments made about general members criticising their behaviour which, even if true about one or two members, shouldn't be applied to all, and is hardly likely to receive favour. And I think some cases of name calling can be seen as petty and disrespectful.

I hope you don't take this too personal, most of us are probably guilty of it; I know I am at times. But you've asked, and I'm giving you my honest answer.

And remember that written language can be very easily misunderstood. For example something that might appear an insulting in writing, in a spoken conversation when accompanied by a smirk might well be taken as friendly slagging.

Your enthusiasm is unquestioned, and it would seem pointless to leave the site. It’s not a car for everyone, but despite that, I think the majority of members want to see this turbo on the road and have show genuine interest in it. So just take comments with a pinch of salt, be aware of posting comments that people might find (or misinterpret as...) insulting, and get that tubby on the road.

Hi Dan as a relative new comer to the site I thought I was pickin up some sort of negative vibe towards you and to be honest found it a little discouraging. however having read the above posts I feel theese should dismiss any apprehensions you may be having. I feel that your youthfull enthusiasm may sometimes be mistaken for aggression. I think it has become clear your efforts have not gone unappreciated, I for one am following the progress of your project with enthusiasm. I feel the hierarcy of this club are keen to distance it from any association with the MAX POWER generation as a comment I made about racing a Toyota celica was met with some disdain, but I appreciate eveyone is entitled to their opinion. You have to take the rough with the smooth. keep your chin up

Dan last thing I want anyway is you to be leaving the site. Where would we direct our abuse and negativity then?

Nah seriously, took balls bringing this up and its in the clubs best interet to have it resolved. I honestly do believe there has been negative vibes in the past, but i dont think they're anywhere as serious, spiteful and common as your making out. But clearly if it has come to this and I personally have caused you any grief in the past I apologise and will be more sensitive to your feelings. (as long a you give me spin in your car of course) Im not admitting for a second that this was ever done intentionally but just i'll be more conscious of what your saying.
