I want to look at putting a banner pic on the main index page, it looks a little bare in its current form. Ideally, a wide angle meet pic would suit best i.e. one that includes plenty of FTOs lined up. Post up your favorites from past meets and we'll pick the best.

I'm about to stir things, why not do a quicky mini shoot in the next week or so around Dublin. Get a nice backdrop, mountains, sea etc with about 5 cars, Black, White, Red etc. I think we can do better than a Helfords car park as a main pic for the site?!

Isnt there enough pics out of all the meets so far for a banner pic? I think just getting a few lads from dublin together during the week isnt fair really on the rest of the country that might want to get involved.

I mean the waterfall one is nice, the triangle thing is cool, the one with all the ftos around Johnstown castle is a contender, turning japanese in offaly was fabulous, and god knows how many more great pics there have been.

Personnally, I'd pick the waterfall picture myself, the backdrop to it is fantaastic.

I'd be inclined to afree with Marty, we've some good examples from previous meets.

Mark was referring to getting a group of cars together in Dublin so as he could shoot them without too much difficulty, there was no bias meant against owners outside of the Pale.

I'll throw a couple of sample pages together with the suggestions submitted and well put it to a vote. Mark can get snap happy at a future meet with arty banner shots in mind

Totally agree on the above, some great shots already. It doesn't matter where they are, I just can't leave Dublin at the moment and then I'm away so won't be around for the Limerick meet. When I refered to doing it in Dublin it was to be an FTO generic shot and theres probably a good few cars that could be gathered quickly, thats all. I know theres some great cars down the country, sure my old FTO is in Cork

I think this on one of the pics MJ is on about? I think I have in high res so should be able to resize. Personally, I prefer the waterfall one, but this does have a lot of member cars and members themselves.

Thats the one Tom ya, I think the waterfall one is a nicer backdrop, but then again for a picture that would show potential newbies looking at the website for the first time, and seeing the banner, then the Johnstone castle one would show them that there are big get togethers had and might entice them in a bit more, if it was one without the people maybe I think it would be nicer, cars only you know? Think gfalls had a wide angle shot of just all the cars did he?
No offence meant either Mark, I just thought that when theres stuff already there then there would be no point in 'reinventing the wheel', (theres another one for your management meeting stuff too whoever started that thread).

Just remember guys/girls that a lot of those images will be cropped top and bottom to work as a banner so the nice castle shot above will effectively be chopped in half thus hurting the composition a bit. If anyone wants to email me shots feel free and I'll crop them accordingly and maybe tweak levels etc. You could have a rotating images, maybe a morning, evening and night shot? Just an idea...

This is the main reason why I need banner format pics where possible.

With Marks help on the photoshop front (thanks fella ), I've used all of your images on the main site in an effort to brighten things up slightly. All main pages get a banner of some sort. Check out the menu at the top of the screen to view the results.

Gfalls, I'm not 100% happy with your image, the shading around the edges didn't come out too good and there was a loss of quality on res reduction. If you've another, send it on.

You know, the more I log in the more the banner thing seems like it was a great idea! It really makes the front page striking and look professional! And flicking through the different pages it makes it stand out more, really works I think!

the photoshopped one with the 3 triangles is the best I think, maybe put it on the home page?

They all look great though... really adds to the site
