location of wiring to fuel pump?

Postby colm_mcm » Thu May 22, 2008 7:50 pm

Anyone know if the wiring to the fuel pump is routed inside or outside of the car, and if it's accessible.

Is the fuel pump right under the rear seat, or on the bottom of the tank?

Under the rear seats theres a flap (unscrew) that will give you access to the fuel pump.

cool, thanks for that.
It's the wiring I'm interested in, do you know where in the cabin the wiring goes towards the engine bay? would it be accessible by removing the armrest console?

Soz - Can't remember - why do you need to know the route of the wiring?

Sorry can I just hijack this for a sec?

Does this mean it's actually quite easy to service/upgrade the pump on the fto?
I remember hearing horror stories about pumps being mounted inside the petrol tank on older cars - just always assumed it'd be the same on newer ones.. (well less old, so!)..

Often wondered if a bit more pressure and a remap might result in a bit of a gain when combined with exhaust and intake... mhhh..

I think its in the tank maud...No point upgrading it though as apparently the stock FTO pump only ever operates at 60% capacity when wide open throttle.

Ah right - so it'd be a case of "Fiddle with it if it breaks or you get some larger injectors installed as well"..

I just fancy a bit more - poke...

You'll need larger injectors, adequate exhaust and induction mods and a remapped aftermarket ECU to make this a reality - not sure if the spend would justify the gains....
