There is water dissapearing from the cooling system, however the car leaves no stains on the ground - so I would assume that the water mixes with the oil.

Sounds like the head gasket is gonna need replacing

I used to have a 1993 one of those - the head gasket went.

I've heard of several of these with blown head gaskets.. It seems to be a common issue with the early Astra. TBH I just want rid - so if anybody bids 0.99GBP on it - they're having it :-)

A mate of mine (who drives like a granny - top speed 70mph!)

- gave me the car to get rid of for him..so there..
I figured there had to be someone out there who could use it for spares or something..

Dismantle it - sell it as paperweights ..cover it in toad-stool sell it as art.. Use it as a large PC case.. the possibilities are endless... ;-)

Quick update.

A bloke from Tallaght bought it for the princely some of 73euros. He must have some secret plan for it..Possibly a super batmobile astra 1.4 ;-)
