Postby msmorrissey » Tue May 11, 2004 10:44 am

Have checked out Brake pads @ FP, Whats the difference in the various Pads? Have 17" wheels on the GS, think I need to change the front Pads any suggestions and is it easy to fit them yourself also where can I get caliper paint?

ms, check out the Mods section on www.mivec.co.uk, Dave W has reviewed a few different sets of pads. Personally, I use Pagids on Black Diamonds, they are extremely dusty but very reliable during hard braking (take a while to heat up though). I ran EBC greenstuff on the GS and I found them adequete, version 2 Greenstuff are supposed to be much better. If you have the money, get Mintex, they come hightly recommended.

As regards changing the pads, take a look at the 'FTOs for Dummies' section on www.funky-fto.co.uk , Chris has a procedure listed which should be helpful. Don't spend big bucks on caliper paint, get yourself a pot of Hammerite Smooth, in my experience, its just as good and a third of the price.
