Galway Girl - what's the fuss?

Postby colm_mcm » Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:06 am

I can't escape this mediocre version of an average enough song. It's on every radio station, Seems it's gone to number one in the singles chart now!
and Mundy's "Raining down arrows" has now gone platinum as a result of Will Leahy and Ray Darcy constantly ramming this song down peoples throats.
I don't get it - If a song is constantly on the radio (I believe the recording on the single is over 4 years old) why would you need it on CD?

Rant over!

(Did anyone on here actually buy this single, statistically, a few of ye must have)

I would almost never buy anything that's on the radio. It's broadly rubbish.

Seems to be sitting on itunes number 1 in Ireland for quite a while now.
Can't understand how myself - though I suppose when you look back on the last few years some of the crappiest songs ever were number 1's.

I hate that song.. no offense guys..

It was fine when it was on the radio once a day.. but it's just too much...4-5 time a day...

When it comes on now I just turn off the radio - leave it for 3 minutes and a bit - and turn it back on - usually it's gone by then.. and followed by that other useless one..what's her face..

"Bleeding love" girl - useless.

I'm NOT old and grumpy - I'm just opinionated! ;-)

Down the country this is an anthem! We're talking a floor filler here! Last song they play in a nightclub etc. I reckon that the bulmers ad has added to its new found popularity also

Radio stations should be banned, they take a great song and keep playing it until you're sick to death of the sound of the bloody thing! Though I didnt fancy the sound of galway girl anyway. And they never play real music, only stupid poppy crap. I've yet to hear system of a down or fear factory played on a station, might get the very very odd low key metallica song but thats even too loud for them! Thats why I never changed the adapter in my FTO when I brought it in, just listen to cds all the time.

It's all 2FMs fault. A DJ played it once there a while ago as something different, then every other DJ on 2FM followed suit and we all know what happens when a song is overplayed...

They had a kind of a pact going that they had to play it at least once a day. Then that increased to twice, three times and so forth.

Look oh look what ye have done!!!!
