Best Alarm

Postby Keith » Fri Jul 09, 2004 1:46 pm

Reading Ronbyrne's attempted car theft spooked me, I was planning on getting a clifford alarm installed thinking it was one of the best but now I am not sure. It seems that some foreigners are stealing high powered cars and shipping them back to their country. Value doesn't seem to be of any concern.

Anyway, I am trying to find out what the most secure alarm is. I am thinking of getting a tracker. I know that if they really want my car they will get it but I want to deter them as much as possible.

Thy getting an alarm that is thatchum(spell?) rated, clifford ar reguarded as one of the best around anyway, also i looked into a tracker mysell and your talking over a grand for that, but visable deterents are usually the best full cove steering lock ect, hope you find what you want.

Alarm

Postby markyboy.1967 » Sat Jul 10, 2004 4:15 pm

Clifford alarms are pretty good but also over-rated-a victim of their own success, people think that because it has a Clifford then its safe--very wrong.A show last year saw 6 Nissan Skylines all with the Clifford 600 alarm fitted all stolen from the same car park on the same day...I personnally have a Toad alarm with a Tracker Monitor, locked garage with 3 other cars in front of the garage door, steering wheel lock and an angry dog all in a theifs way of stealing my Skyline when at home, different story when im out and about though as i need to rely on my alarm and tracker and steering wheel lock only.

no alarm is any use if the hood can be poped and the siren disconnected in about 2 - 3 seconds !! the other problem with the fto is that the doors can then be opened in another minute or less using a coat hanger, then the immobiliser can be bypassed in another 10 - 20 secs. ( i have found all this out myself after my fto was almost taken )
