I got the horn

My bloody momo steering wheel keeps disconnecting from the horn. ive taken the steering wheel of about 6 times to attach it back. an ideas it cums off when i put it in full lock.

isn't the problem that you get the horn, and then every so often you lose it?
it's probably psychological.


seriously though, does it only happen when you lock in a particular direction. haven't seen the boss on the Momo wheel, but if it uses a "clockspring" (flat wire would around, maybe the position of the clockspring boss wasn't centred when you fitted it.

Don't know if that makes sense written down, it does in my head!

boys if u look at my pics u can see the wheel its not the standard wheel. but basically when i turn the wheel the wire wraps around the steering column and then pulls the wire off the connector.

I take it that is a Air Bagged wheel?

Not sure if it works differently to the Non Airbagged but at the base there should be a copper disk that once on the Coloum is in contact with a pinhead so wires shouldn't come into contact wtih the coloum, if that makes scence.
So for it to come loose must mean the wires are catching on the coloum nut during rotation of the wheel.
Try tape to sick down loose wires in the hub and away from the center if at all posisble.

does it look like they ran a wire from the steering column to the steering wheel? that shouldn't be normal.

Yeah a wire from the steering wheel to the column wont do - you need a hoop to go with your wire.

Somewhere near the steeringboss you'll see a thinish spring loaded rod protruding - this is where you need to close you horn circuit.

On the back of the non-airbag fto steeringwheels there's a conductive metal ring which is perfect for the purpose. I managed to solder & glue mine onto the back of my boss. It's a bit "blue peter" but it totally works - and there's no wires snapping anywhere.
