joking I hope - you have seen the picture?

dreadful cheapo rear spoiler - badly modified - at least its not actually running 20's - they look more like 17's.

There are FAR better cars out there for the money - I wouldn't know where to start - but I'll start at "A" for Alfa -

Not to back him up but isn't the resale on the Alfo very bad????

One of the girl's ere in work had a fab one but she was moving to OZ

And she couldn't get rid of it!!!! Had to let it go for a quater of the price she was looking for? It was the hatch back model now though!

:smt046

As opposed to that Hyundai?
The resale on an Alfa may be bad if you buy it new but you won't go too far wrong on an 98 Alfa156 costing 2.5K.

please note going "too far wrong" on an Alfa 156 is relative. It's different to going "too far wrong" on a regular car.

Agreed - But if you're a petrolhead it won't be a difficult car to run and its a lot of car for the money - looks and performance wise.

Is there any better value for 2.5K if you're looking for a sporty, smart looking car thats remotely insurable?

If he bought it, I think a whole load of prayers and tools will be needed...

lol.... Nice pic. I love those spoilers. The good news is they are deffo not 20s, possibly 18s. I think its an astute guess that he doesn't have brand new rubber on the alloys which will mean at least 140 per tyre for junk rubber. 18s are expensive. gotta see some more pics. Engine bay looks a bit dirty but cannot really see. Looks like the picture was taking at 3am in a warehouse with no lights.

Jesus tell him to stick with the Punto until he finds something better. I drove a Punto up until I bought the FTO and I'd go back to it in a heartbeat before I'd touch that POS!

He got it lad's without even a test drive? I asked it how is it driving & his comment was I need to get a new nob for the gear stick the one on it is wobbley? Oh the sheer laughter he's at home now breaking his back cleaning it before I finish work at 5 ha...

I hope it work's out like but I'd say this is going to be a very hard lesson for my little bro. It will be hard for him to accept MY CAR IS NICER ha ha ha.... :smt019

I suppose he will learn the hard way anyway which is no bad thing for a young lad.

Tell him that the 2k he saved will be well spent putting the car right as it disintegrates in front of his eyes.

They don't look like 20" rims by the way - more like 17-18" ?

Oh my god!!! not to sound aweful but i hope you gave him a slap upside his head and knocked some sence into him, I really hope it doesn't go all arseways on him but if it does it's going to be an expensive lesson. Tell him to use some of that money he's saved buying this car and get it FULLY checked out. yes a wobbley gearstick might be just that but it could also be a broken mounting bracket, And if thats the case i wouldn't just replace the broken one i'd get them all done because god knows how long its broken and the strain that was on the other brackets.

I agree with you FTO's are nice by a mile, What he should have done is bought a GS FTO That shouldn't to to rought on his insurance at least on par with the hyundai i know it's to late now but here's some from england that were cheep and even with the vrt he would have got them for a reasonable total price.

I actually feel kinda sorry for the lad..

but hey - if those two things are all that's wrong with it he got off lightly..

Gear knob is cheap and if he just wants a boyracer job (to go with the car ;-) ) there's halfords and eBay...quite a selection on eBay actually..

The horn will be fiddly but it's not impossible to fix..

Tell him good luck :-)

Should be able to pull the fuse for the horn from the fusebox as a temporary fix... Yeah, if thats the extent of his problems with it, he is doing well.

He has it over a week now, has resprayed the big f**k-off spoiler black & sprayed the sunroof to match! He's repainted the brake calliber's red!
He paid €60.00 yesterday for a new clip for the broken seat belt! & that was from a scrap yard?
He's put in a new radio & a few other little bit's he still loves it & hasn't gone out one nite since he's got it, no more time for pub's or club's all he want's is his car,so that about the only good thing I can say!

Still I suppose if it keeps him out of trouble!

BTW - has he been stopped much by the siocalonnies?

He hasn't said, it's kinda crap tho!
Because we all warned him NOT to get it, he wouldn't say if there is something wrong with it!
Or if he's getting stopped left right & centre!
