dropped my car into a local garage at the weekend to get the cat reinstalled for the NCT and when I went to collect he told me that the rust underneath is pretty bad. there is a couple holes in the exhaust which I can cope with but his main worry seemed to be that there is a fair bit of rust on the inside of the front strut pillars. he said that something would have to be done with it for safety sake.
to be honest, I don't have a lot of faith in this guy so will definitely be looking for a second opinion from someone who specialises in this sort of area.
question now is - who do you recommend as the best person to speak to in the Dublin area to look at it. basically I just want someone to put it up on a ramp and replace what needs to be replace, weld what needs welding and reinforce anything else that they think needs it. either that or to tell me to park it up and forget about it (im hoping it wont come to that !)
anyway, any info you might have would be appreciated.
Cheers

@Dubc: As Kace says, ebay is the place to go. I personally don't think a decat is worth the effort.
goz_83 wrote:The decat shouldn't make you use extra fuel. I think it's more efficient, but you won't notice either way. Good luck with it.

Correct, in most cases it will improve fuel economy.

This is just fantastic news. If it improves fuel economy I'll notice as at the rate the car's going it's guzzling petrol. Getting about 90km on €20.

That's not good unless you drive hard all the time.
DubC wrote:I used to drive hard - and it would be a lot less than 90km for the €20 - Now I'm stuck with changing gears at 2000 revs in an effort to save on fuel.
How handy of a job is the lambda sensor? I've a spare one there on the red car.
goz_83 wrote:I am sure your lambda is fine. The terra clean would just clean out all the crap and improve mpg and horse power too....more than a decat will. Costs around €130ish on an fto. I got mine done last year.

Sure terra clean should clean everything right out to the lambda and cat.
Did you notice much difference after that goz?
