Idea for a Meet - DIY Day

Postby Kace » Thu Nov 13, 2008 6:07 pm

Saw this on FTOAus and thought that this was a really novel idea for a meet - DIY Day

Basically - everyone comes with their own snag list and gets the benefit and experience of all others who may have completed the jobs previously.

Tools / Power / Location could of course prove a challenge.

Might be an idea for a day during the long hot summer ?

Excellent idea - I have a location in Limerick with full lift/tools access that we could use for a day for €50 each. We could all have a mini service/oil change/filter change and also for the purposes of learning do one of the following - spark plug change/ tappet adjustment on the mivec / brake pad and fluid change / aux belt change etc etc.

So we'd all leave with serviced cars and hopefully learn something new from the experience.

That sounds like a great idea. I'd def be on for that, even if I didn't need anything done at the time, always interested to learn something.

Sounds like an excellent idea. Not massively mechanically minded but I'm always willing to have a go at fixing things on the car.

Exactly - this could be tied in with a sort of FTO 'car boot sale' where everyone brings all the spare parts they have second hand / new.
