500 EURO TO BLOW

Postby mike » Mon Mar 08, 2004 11:06 pm

I'm going to the drag wars this Sunday and I have a few hundred euro to blow on the car ( don't tell the missus or she'll waste it on paying the electricity bill or something) Its a black Gr '95 and I have a decent sound system with bass tube, amp etc. It's pretty standard apart from the gear stick knob.I would like to do something a little different for Sunday cosmetically to the interior and mabe brighten up the boot to display the amp and sound system a little more. Also how would i brighten up the engine ( steam clean it ? ) and are there any goodies like coloured hose pipes ? Any imfo. on what and more importantly WHERE I could get this stuff. Only 5 days till Sunday HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

go to www.maxed-ie.net

plenty of modders in there, with plenty of styling business adverts.

Mike, if I where you, I'd put the money into a stainless steel exhaust and induction kit if you havn't already got one or the other. A Quickshift or Blitz looks and sounds great under the bonnet and is complemented by a free flowing exhaust. In saying that, it sounds like you're after the cosmetic mods, why not kill two birds with the one stone and get a set of front and rear strut braces? Best place to get 'em in Kempys in NZ but they won't be here by the weekend!
If you're looking to steam clean under the bonnet, make sure that all electrical connections are covered with plastic bags or the like. Do it at your own risk! Check out the usual suspects for things that make under the bonnet look interesting:

Thanks for the tips lads. I think I might spend the money on a few extra Bhp. Wish me luck on Sunday the entry forms in the post. Even If I 'm slow I may still be the fastest Fto on the Day !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Daz if you have any last minute tips on how to get that last extra Bhp out of the Gr it will be welcomed. Don't want some sh**ged out old civic leaving me standing.

There is several things ya may wana do for the day, firstly over inflate your tires by 5-7 psi it will cut down on some of the rolling resistance but definatly don't go any higher than 40 psi on the front or 38 on the back. next remove the spacesaver wheel and carry a bottle or two of tire weld incase you do get a flat at any time. remove all boarding and plastics from the boot aswell along with any removable bass speakers. make sure that your air and fuel filters are clean, and if possible do and oil change aswell. if you going to run with the 105 ron fuel you mentioned in a previous post get up there early and disconnect the batt for 30-45 min also don't run with more than 1/4 of a tank. after filling with the 105 ron stuff take it back out on the road (after ecu reset ofcourse ) and cane it for about 30 min to get system used to running such hi spec fuel also over the next couple of days add fuel line cleaner and additives to get it as clean as possible. the more extreem stuff is removal of the remaining seats.

And if all that fails a MIVEC transplant will have to be done :D :D
