All very good suggestions. Sadly I used the phone at work to call Willie ... and when I went to the Garda staion they didn't even want to take the report.

This is really sad, but next time somebody forgets to brake and hits my car. I know I wont be a nice person and do "the right thing". I'll be insisting to go through insurance.

I have already arranged with a mechanic - painter guy I know that he's quoting me on monday to get the bumper resprayed.

I feel like such a twat..I should have just gone to Mitsi in the 1st place. Oh well .. you live and you learn... Also I really need to improve my file-ing system...

work would probably have an itemized phone bill, you should be able to get someone to trace the number that way.

Ah yeah..but there's about 800 phones here.. I did think about that, but as I rang his mobile 087 something - and I generally make a good few calls to similar type numbers everyday..it would be fairly tricky...

I think I'll contiune to turn my house upside-down-inside-out looking for the note with the number on. Can't believe I've lost it.

well if there's that many phones there then they should be broken down into extension numbers, and if you knew what day you rang him you could at least get a list of possible numbers!
better than no number!!

Mate, you should not let this guy (the sprayer) away with this crap. He got paid for a job that he didn't do properly. I'd be getting legal advice here to see what can be done!

And I'd be posting his details here so that no-one else has the same misfortune!

I Found willies number. I had it in my work phone... The Darn thing keeps a log of all the last 99 numbers I dialed!

Locatation: Go to Kents town... Point your car towards Navan..After getting out of Kents town take the second right turn (There's a sign for an Oestopath (sp.) - travel down that road appox one mile .. You'll see the fast puncture tyre sign sitting on the road.
His Building is a very large green Hangar type thing - has a Yellow lift in there and the Yard seems to be full of different cars.
Immediately next to the Hangar there is a rather large residence in red brick.

That is so annoying, sorry to hear it's goinf pearshaped, BUT I think the bottom line here is you went along with Willies idea to have the damage he caused to your car repaired. It didn't work and you need your car fixed properly. The problem with the spray guy isn't yours to deal with it's willies, and if he has lost money on that, that's his problem as well.

I'd simply set this out to him and ask him to resolve it ASAP (and be clear that you are not letting that other guy near your car again) or put in the claim through his insurance ASAP. I don't see any reason why you could'nt go through the insurance to have the job done properly.

JD I understand where you're coming from but I don't think that would be fair. If I'd gone the insurance way from the beginning then...
..But I kinda feel that I went down the wrong road when I accepted that yer man was to sort my car..

I'm not sure what an oven looks like - but he does have a massive yoke sitting in the corner with loads of gages and dials on it. I looks like it would hold panels and such.

I did notice that he's dabbed some paint on an old damage in the boot. Although I appreciate the effort this particular repair just highlights the fact that the color is not the same.

Mate, it's not your fault the paint doesn't match - so what if you agreed to let "Willies" man do the repairs, that doesn't mean you have to suffer if the job is poor quality. You were doing this guy a favour by not going direct to insurance so the least he can do is try to help you get this sorted!! I would be raging at this stage

It just proves what I've always said - in the event of an accident always contact the garda, always contact your insurance and the other parties insurance and always choose the garage yourself!

Mine is going in to get the panel damage fixed tomorrow and even though my insurance recommended somewhere else I'm going to a guy I've used before who I know does good work and I know will make sure the job is top notch!

Maud, I'm really sorry to hear you're getting stiffed here but I really believe you should insist this guy sorts it out for you or else you're going to insurance!

i would agree with Shane on this one, there's no way i would settle for that, you used him as a favour to the other guy, he's work wasn't up to scratch, so it's a problem for him to sort not you, if i were you i'd report it to my insurance company regardless...
