One of these little kits was fitted to one of the cars I am brakeing. http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands ... 00ls-color

Anyone know anything about them good or bad. Going to install it in the van tomorrow, will be handy for the amount of time I spend on the phone.

Have one in the missus' Alfa - its a neat bit of kit - far better than a conventional phone kit IMO.

groan!

Rory, we install a good few of them at work, and the CK3100 gives a fair bit of trouble, these are black and white display, the colour ones are an awful lot better.

They're great because you can update the software via bluetooth on your laptop, and they're constantly adding new phone models and improving existing ones.

Just be extra careful ripping it out and putting it in, as they can be fragile.

go to Settings > Advanced settings > Update Software

Presuming you have the "Parrot Software Update Tool" on your laptop
(free from http://www.parrot.com/usa/)

then use your laptop to search devices, establish a connection with the phone kit (mutual pin code will be required) then send the files

takes about 5 minutes.

The kit will probably work with your phone without an update, but features such as voice dialling or access to your contacts might be restricted depending on your phone.

I just got the Mki9100 the other day, apparently fairly new to the market.

They connect up to your stereo and give you a usb, ipod and line in input. I can browse all my ipod music, my usb hard drive mp3 collection all through a tidy digital display which i can mount wherever i like.

Great piece of kit fitted http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mki9100

I've had a CK3100 in my FTO for the last few years, not bad at all, nice and neat. Powered through the radio connection, sound through the car speakers, microphone you can mount on the headliner. The control box in mine went at one stage but sent it to Parrot and they just sent me back a new one. I even got a cable at the time to try to update the software to see if that would fix it.

Had the one without a display in my previous car, CK3000 was it... used the voice recognition feature - touch the button, it beeped, I said "home" and it called home!

On my previous car with the Citroen stereo it even paused playing CDs when a call came in. Doesn't with my cheap Sony stereo in the FTO but if your stereo has a mute connection you can hook it up.

Newer models are probably better again with colour screens I guess Colm?

Yup, the control box going on a 3100 sounds plausable alright ;)

RE: the CK3000, the voice dialling is a feature of your phone more than a feature of the kit. Even the basic Nokia CK7W will do this. It's a very handy feature to have.

Renaults/Citroens/Pugs tend to pause a cassette or CD when either the mute button is pressed, volume is turned all the way down, or the mute function is activated via the mute wire from the phone kit.

The ones with the colour screens are the biz, as Russman said, the extra features like the audio-in would be worth the price of the kit alone to some people.
