Today was the final day of my car being on the road before she would go under the spanner and emerge from the shed as a Turbo,
As you know i needed to have the heads decompressed so iv ordered 2 new head gaskets and the heads skimmed and my mechanic to strip back the head.
Last night my car started sounding terrable. more like a train and wouldnt idle right,So I thought id drive it over to the garage and have a look before my mechanic arrives and ill get it done. myself whatever the problem was.
So looking down at the left hand side of the block some smoke appears when i start the car and the block is rocking like mad. sounds like a train and not ideling at all right.
I spot oil at the bottom of my sump and go? oil leak? chek the oil and all seems fine. Look under again and see the oil is coming from above my sump. all the way up to where my manifold is. and spot the little "o" rings that join the head gasket layers together.
So said thats my had gasket
Open the oil cap and lo and behold Mayonaise on the back.
Head Gasket has gone kaput.
So heres what I think.
How lucky am I to have my mechanic prebooked to have the heads stripped back and replace the gaskets for the new setup.
And
Have new
Head gaskets,
Valve seals, (might as well change them when the works going on down there)
Timing belt
Water pump
Auxillary belt
Lucky Me.
