Parking brakes refer to handbrake operation, service brakes may indicate total braking efficiency. Anyone out there familiar with the MOT confirm?

Inspect all disks, if theres a significant lip on any of them, replace the set. Check pad condition at each corner, replace if pads are low. Bleed the braking system while you're at it.

Service brakes refers to the brakes operated by the pedal. Probably need new pads and possibly disks. As regards pads avoid APEC like the plague.

Just on the parking brake (hand brake) efficiency - bad pads/discs of course will affect that, but that can also be adjusted with a nut under the cup behind the gear stick.

If you replace the rear brake pads or discs, you need to slacken that off anyway and re-adjust afterwards. Did it myself on Friday replacing my rear pads.
