anyone looking to convert their 6a12 into a turbo?

Postby d_dan » Mon Mar 16, 2009 3:20 pm

Guys myself and Eurospec have teamed up to build a turbo kit for the Mitsubishi FTO. the kit includes fitting, mapping, ecu and everything else you will need to have your car successfully converted from NA to TURBO.

All details can be found here

so these kits you're doing won't be as much of a pain to fit as the one on your own.

nope as theres no work needed to be done to the engine other than T'ing an oil feed and changing your sump.

This kit you wont even need to remove the manifolds.

I wouldn't fancy sending my car to England and parting with thousands on an unproven (therefore potentially catastrophic) turbo conversion.

It'd be a long way to go if anything were to go wrong... that's just me though.

For a lot of people, being able to see one that's been up and running for a while would make the decision to go for something like this a lot easier. It would be great if there was an off-the-shelf tried and tested kit out there.

To be honest, turbo-ing my car isn't top of the list at the moment, although a little more power would be nice. I'm more curious about it than anything else.

You say you've teamed up with Eurospec, which bits are you doing and which bits are they doing?

whats unproven?
The kit that i wll be selling is on 2 cars fitted for over a year and no issues.

Dyno proven @ 163BHP.
Id have no bother fitting the kit here and getting it mapped in ireland too.

Your original post gives the impression that it's a new product,

Bernard (and myself actually  ) could be forgiven for thinking that this was a new venture given that you haven't mentioned it in the last year.

I'm genuinely interested in this topic, and don't want to see it devolve into a lets-pick-on-dan thread, there's just so many questions that a package like this raises.

This is how you make a tested off the shelf kit and as Iv said this kit is more than tested with 1/4 mile times & dyno printouts

Eurospec will be supplying a Map 2 ecu and mapping it. they will also offer to fit the entire kit at a good rate. so you will be albe to drive in Na and drive out Turbo

I understand where your comming from and its grand.

The new product is the fact that there will now be a turbo kit that you can now get for your FTO

Fair enough Dan, it's just you posted looking for guinea pigs, that would suggest the kit hasn't been proven.

d_dan wrote:or be our guinea pig see below

If it's a proven and tested kit that changes things completely.

Also, I presumed that if Eurospec were doing it (as per the links) that it would be done in England.
An Irish fitted kit would be a lot less worry.

Is it still using the Impreza turbo unit? who's doing all the plumbing etc? Eurospec are tuning it, but who's doing all the greasy work?

we need somone whos looking for the kit so we can work out costs.

Thats why both Eurospec and I are offering to do the kit at cost price.

If you would be intrested in getting a kit done over here as iv said ill arrange for an irish tuning company to supply and map an ecu for them.

The reason im teaming up with Eurospec is that most people looking for the kit will be based in the UK and that they will be familiarsed with the kit and mapping and working with turbo FTO's

the IHI-RH5F turbo is grand for this kit as its not too big with a reletivly quick spool up but can also run up to 8000 RPM without stalling.

As you can see Eurospec have offered to fit the entire kit but they will be recieving a completely built kit ready to fit. But I would happily fit the kit for anyone in ireland looking for the kit as id probably do it cheaper than any garage and its money in my pocket a the end of the day

That's all my questions answered anyhow, best of luck with it, and give us a look at the white one when it's running.

Interesting venture Dan. Is there a demo car running the same hardware and ECU? Eurospec are highly regarded among the UK Mitsi community and have been working on FTOs for years.

How will the deal work, are you representing Eurospec on the organisation from (i.e middle man), have you both deveolped the kit as a joint venture?

I'm trying to understand how the deal will work in terms of the research thats been done on the kit, how many cars are running it reliably and lastly, how will payment work?

With Eurospec
I will be having the downpipes, turbo intake & turbo exhaust fabricated, then i will be supplying a NEW turbo and all the pipework for the kit including a modified fuel rail, modified sump, more powerfull fuel pump, bigger injectors and a battery relocation kit.

Ill then ship the kit over to eurospec where they will fit the entire kit, map2 ecu & mapping it.

In terms of payment.
The final price will be for a complete turbo kit, fitting and mapping. So the price will be for a complete turbo conversion from start to finish.

But I am willing to review the prices for what people want. EG. some people in the uk just want the turbo pipework and that alone.
