Postby Red Army General » Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:06 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying an FTO in a few months and I've just a few questions hopefullly you can help with.

1.) What year did production stop on them?
2.) Would it be better to buy one from here or import a jap spec?
3.) What are running costs like eg. fuel, nisurance ect...
4.) Is is hard to get good quility aftermarket parts on for them?

Cheers lads.

I know. I'm a big fan of the car itself anyway. Just paying off the loan on my current car and then will be looking for one prob round august so it's a bit off just yet.

If you import one after 1st July. It will be road taxed on its emissions, not the engine size. It will certainly cost more... Get one quick..!

Road tax and VRT will be charged at the maximum rate, as they don't have emissions figures for the FTO. Even if they had figures, the FTO's not-very-green emissions figures should be enough to ensure you'd be paying €2,000 a year in road tax.

Welcome RAG. If you're holding out til August then keep a close eye on the usual advert sites to get a feel for whats available out there. Well looked after cars come up for sale on this site regularly so keep your eyes open. Colms car, for example, is one such motor. You don't mention your particulars in terms of insurance but one of the first things you should before considering an FTO is to get a couple quotes.
