wheel arch material

Postby ikeane » Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:58 am

I'm going to make up a set of arches for over my front wheels, it sounds simple in my head...so I'm wondering what material would be durable and light enough for the job.
Any suggestions post them here:

Durable and light.... carbon fibre

Failing that, how about cutting up a rubbish bin?

standard liners not too good if you've got big wheels. they wear out very quickly!

Lino and a few brackets to hold it on perhaps ? Failing that I'm sure steelroe must have a few about.

I had larger diameter rims and tyres on my FTO and just had the wheelarches riveted back further than normal - did the job just fine.

Old 18" wheels did a good job of them alright, riveting them back is a good idea.
However, seeing as I didnt rivet them I'll have to replace them.

Will go the steelroe route if nothing handy comes up.
