fto not starting

Postby 99casst » Sat Apr 03, 2010 9:22 pm

hi guys lets run this from the start.
I changed the water pump on fto the other day all went well till timing come up i no where the cams must go but as for crank that the puzzle i have try counter one tooth from the timing mark
i try on mark still wont fire - just turns over took the coil pack out spark no there is fuel as i had injector deal go when originally put back together and it leaked out so changed that.
if i spray lynx in the inlet it back fires now does this sound like a sensor wheel problem due to spark or a issue still with timing if any one no the marks to use for the crank then that be use full im using the one about 11-12 it a little dash on the oil pump the valves r not hitting as i would heard also if any one no how to position a sensing wheel this would be use full
i really dont no what this issue would be
by the way the engine is gr

I changed a timing belt myself on a Mivec but it was a while ago. I will see if I can find the guide I used. I know the car won't start if the crank sensor is disconnected. Have you checked the wiring on this?

When you finished replacing the belt were all the timing marks lined up or was the crank still off by 1 tooth?

I'm not a mechanic but I'm fairly sure when the belt is on all the timing marks should be lined up.

thank u for that that sort cleared some stuff up but still not shore let me tell u what going on it cranks its been timed nearly every way i timed it up yesterday with cams locked in their position and put the plastic cam casing on the pully moved the notch to the t on casing and locked cam sprocket and fitted belt started up and nothing still cranked every time checked by hand for clearance no knocks my m8 did this to his fto and started first time no problems so im shore the timing should work for me when i removed coil one put plug in i got a spark i no its fueling but do u think i should check the rest for a spark when i removed the water pump lots water come out this has not damaged the crank sensor do u think i no there temperamental it was covered in stuff so took of and clean and still would not start just lot money to waist if not the issue

Measured the resistance between the 2 lower pins and it was 1.86 Mega Ohms. This is off a Mivec engine

I checked the sensor when it was removed from the car. I think you will get a different reading when it is attached as it looks to be a magnetic sensor.
